The cost for each week is $1,385.00 (derived by dividing the annual budget by 52 weeks). Altar Guild Brenda Dansingburg and Laura Caravatt will be sharing the Altar Guild responsibilities for the month of October. Brenda will take care of the altar and Laura will provide her beautiful flowers. Coffee Hour A time of fellowship following the service of worship is held in the social hall. Estimates of Giving relate to the general operational budget and the building fund. They are a great help to the Executive Committee as it prepares the 2014-2015 budget. Please submit them as soon as possible. Fall Meeting of Windham Union Association The Windham Union Association will hold its fall meeting at United Church of Ludlow on Sunday, November 2nd beginning with lunch at 1:00 P.M. Associate Conference Minister, Jim Thomas, will be with us as we explore what it means to be an Association in the 21st Century. In a mix of presentation and conversation, those gathered will explore our history, polity, and future as a setting of the United Church of Christ. We’ll hear of movements afoot in other associations, and consider what our future role may be. Luncheon for Association Meeting – 1:00 P.M. The United Church is hosting the Windham Association meeting on Sunday, November 2nd and luncheon will be served. Available in the lobby will be the menu donations we hope you will consider providing. Harvest Home, October 19 The annual service of Harvest Home will be celebrated on Sunday, October 19. Gifts of food items to the Good Neighbors Food Shelf are encouraged. The following is a list of food most needed by the Food Shelf: canned fruits, especially apple sauce, pancake mix and syrup, cereal, tuna fish, canned meats, canned vegetables, evaporated milk, crackers, and pasta or rice sides. Monetary gifts are also encouraged. Checks should be made out to United Church of Ludlow specified for the Good Neighbors Food Shelf. Reformation Sunday, October 26 On Reformation Sunday, Rev. Harpster will dedicate gifts to the church that have been made in the past year. Members and friends of the church also have the opportunity to present monetary gifts in memory or in honor of individuals. A dedication form is provided with this week’s bulletin. In order for your dedication to be included in the bulletin for Reformation Sunday, all gifts should be in the church office by Wednesday, October 22. Example of form: In memory of _________________________________________ Presented by _________________________________________ or In honor of _________________________________________ Presented by _________________________________________ Memorial Gift Opportunity: The New Church Sign A beautiful new church sign announcing our presence has been ordered and will be installed this fall on the front yard such that is visible from all three approaches to the Elm and Pleasant Street intersection. We have received one major memorial donation; a second donation toward this project was made several years ago. If you would like to honor or memorialize someone, this is a great opportunity to donate toward a needed and permanent physical improvement to our church. All donations received before Reformation Sunday, October 26, will be acknowledged during the service. Andy Ohotnicky is the expert on the sign itself. Pastor Harpster and Bob Kottkamp can also answer questions.
