Stewardship Campaign:

Hope for the Future

Picture
It's November, and we are conducting our annual stewardship campaign to help the Executive Board budget for 2026. Each Sunday, you will hear people share, about what stewardship means to them and to our church.

The first week, Bill Kneebone shared how the United Church supported him through his wife Susan's long illness.

1 Peter 4:10 says “As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another as good stewards of God’s varied grace."

All members should have received a letter about how we have been sharing the word of God through our faith, time, talents and treasure this past year, as well as our plans for 2026. These include:
  • We became an Open and Affirming Congregation of the United Church of Christ and a Reconciling Congregation of the United Methodist Church
  • We continued growth in attendance, welcomed 8 new members and had our first baptism in many years
  • We became a Disaster Hub, creating disaster kits that are ready to be distributed when the need arises
  • We created a new Church sign that declares our inclusive welcome to all, a message we also share in the Bulletin, on our website and in all our church communications
  • We installed new furnaces and water heaters
  • We painted the trim on the outside of the church
  • We joyfully held our first Vacation Bible School in decades
  • We provided a warm and welcoming space for worship and fellowship throughout the year, highlighted by Terry’s beautiful piano and organ playing and special services such as Wild Church and Holy Hilarity Sunday.
  • We took care of each other and prayed for each other in times of need and Terry made her prayer blankets for those who needed comfort and love.

Plans for 2026 include:
  • Continue maintaining the church building such as repairing, cleaning or replacing the windows in the church, including the stained glass windows
  • Installing an inclusive sign for the back of the church.
  • As a congregation we will continue to service God, the community, nation and world long into the future. There will be a Zoom Bible Study on the Lord’s Prayer during the winter and the Ring Out Love Celebration in the Spring.

Our aspirational 2026 budget is projected to increase 12.5%. This includes a 2.7% cost of living increase for our staff, an increase in Pastor Michelle’s pension contribution from 11% to 14% of her pay to align with the UCC VT conference standards, and a budget for supplies for Terry’s prayer blanket ministry.

As we project an increase in our church’s expenses next year, we hope you will prayerfully consider how much you can support our growing ministry. We are reaching out with this Stewardship Campaign as a way to share what the United Church of Ludlow means to us and how we can best plan for it well into the future. Please consider how you can participate in our ministry for 2026.

Your generosity helps strengthen who we are and what we can do together. For that we are truly grateful!

Please mail your pledge card (to Bill Kneebone, PO Box 12, Ludlow, VT 05149) or drop it in the collection basket by Nov. 23, Stewardship Sunday!

The United Church of Ludlow’s Stuffed Shells to Stuff Hungry Bellies dinner raised over $3,000 to fight hunger both in the world and in our own backyard, thanks to the generosity of a number of regional organizations. The church hosted the dinner on Sat, Nov. 22, in cooperation with the Ludlow Rotary Club, the Okemo Valley Women's Club, and Black River Good Neighbors.
