United Church of Ludlow, Weekly Email News November 10, 2013

Upcoming Meetings
Women’s Group - Every Wednesday at 10:00 A.M.
Executive Board – Wednesday, November 27 at 7:00 P.M. 

Annual Meeting of the Church
The annual meeting of the church will be held following the service on November 10.
Plan to attend this important meeting in the life of the congregation.
 
Weekly Offerings
Offerings and other cash receipts for the week of November 3 were $1,073.00.
The cost of each week is $1,330.00 (derived by dividing the annual budget by 52
weeks). 
 
Altar Guild
Brenda Dansingburg is serving as the Altar Guild person during the month of November.
 
Coffee Hour
A time of fellowship following the service of worship is held in the social
hall. Coffee, juice and refreshments will be served. 
 
Christian Education Class 
Rev. Harpster will continue to lead us in discussions of
“Our Faith Traditions from the Post-Civil War Era to the Present.” 
This series of classes runs for six weeks on Tuesday evenings in the Ladies
Parlor at the church from 7:00 to 8:30 P.M. 
The topic for the concluding session this coming Tuesday, November 12 will be
” Churches and Individuals Which Emphasized the End Times.” 
All are welcome to attend.  For more information, contact Rev. Harpster

Service of Harvest Home 
The annual service of Harvest Home will be on Sunday, November 10.  
Gifts of food items to the Good Neighbors Food Shelf are encouraged. 

The following is a list of food most needed by the Food Shelf:  canned
fruits, esp. apple sauce, pancake mix and syrup, cereal, tuna fish, canned meats, canned vegetables, evaporated milk, crackers, and pasta or rice sides.

 Monetary gifts are also encouraged. Checks should be made out to United
Church of Ludlow specified for the Good Neighbors Food Shelf.  
 
Vermont Conference of the UCC Fall Meeting 
The Windham Union Association, Vermont Conference of the United Church of
Christ, will hold its fall meeting on Sunday, November 17, 2013 at 2:00 P.M.
at Centre Congregational Church, 193 Main Street, Brattleboro, Vermont.
 
The Reverend Jim Antal, Conference Minister and President of the Mass.
Conference, UCC will speak on the subject,  “The Vocation of the Church and Climate Change –  Leading the Next Moral  Revolution.”

All are invited to hear his address and attend a reception which will
follow.
 
Ecumenical Thanksgiving Service
 
A Community Thanksgiving Service will be held at United Church of Ludlow on
November 24, 2013 at 4:00 P.M.  A combined choir under the direction of Ed
Boadway will sing and Pastor Harpster will be giving the message.

A time of fellowship and refreshments will follow the worship service. Participating
churches include the Cavendish Baptist Church, Gethsemane Episcopal Church,
Tyson Congregational Church and United Church of Ludlow. 
 
Gethsemane Episcopal Church (Proctorsville) 
Celebration of a New Season of Ministry

 
An invitation is extended to all parishioners of the United Church of Ludlow
to welcome Reverend Todd A. McKee. 

The celebration will be held at the Episcopal Church located on 89 Depot
Street, Proctorsville -  Sunday, November 17 at 5:00 P.M. 

A community dinner will follow in the Parish Center. 
 
Robert Fleming/Malayaka House 
Robert Fleming, the founder of Malayaka House (Ugandan orphanage), spoke to a crowd that filled the Ladies' Parlor on Wednesday evening, November 6th.

Vermont is Malayaka House, PO Box 9352, South Burlington, VT 05407-9352. 
 
Earlier in the day, Robert was interviewed on Ralph Pace's LPCTV show, This
Was The Week That Was.  The interview will be broadcast on LPCTV about 17
times over the coming week.
