Season of Advent
The Advent Season, in preparation for the birth of our savior, begins this Sunday.
Pat Liao and Carol Wu will lead us in the lighting of the first Advent Candle - Hope.
Brenda Dansingburg and Jean Eggleston will do the Altar Guild duties
for the month of December.
A time of fellowship following the service of worship is held in the social hall.
Coffee, juice and refreshments will be served.
Christmas Season is approaching. If you would like to make a donation for
the Christmas flowers in memory or in honor of loved ones, please contact Anne Oakes.
Please submit your dedications to Anne by Friday, December 15
The Giving Tree
The Christmas season is upon us! Some needy children in the area are
again looking forward to the thoughtful gifts they will receive from our parishioners.
This year the bell shaped cards on the tree in our Fellowship Hall will list the gender,
age, clothes and shoe sizes of a child in need.
People can choose age appropriate articles of clothing and/or toys. Baby or toddler outfits, sweaters, snow pants or some other winter articles of clothing is always needed.
Toys such as dolls, cars & trucks, games, puzzles and legos are always a hit.
Each and every gift is welcomed.
Bell shaped cards will be on the tree by December 3rd. Hopefully gifts
will be put under the tree by December 10th if possible or on the 17th at the latest.
Black River Good Neighbors will collect and organize the gifts for delivery along with
their traditional Holiday Food baskets on December 21st.
Again…a local child is very thankful for the generosity and Christmas spirit of
you and the United Church.
Sunday, February 11, 2018 is the 50th anniversary of the day I was critically
injured in a catastrophic skiing accident. No one thought I would live, but God
had other plans.
I plan to lead the church in worship that day - Miracle Sunday. I know that there
are other parishioners whose lives have been touched by God in miraculous ways.

tell your story, please contact me. LindaThomson@Hypnovations.com
2017 Christmas Fund for Veterans of the Cross and the Emergency Fund
In this holy and joyous time of year, our thoughts turn to the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ, the light of the world.
The theme for the 2017 Christmas Fund Offering is Shepherding the Light
For 116 years, the Christmas Fund for the Veterans of the Cross and the
Emergency Fund has been a tangible expression of God’s love and light in the world.
One of the four Special Mission Offerings of the United Church of Christ,
the Christmas Fund provides UCC congregations and members an opportunity
to reach out in kindheartedness to those who have faithfully shepherded our
Church and who now find themselves facing unexpected needs.
See the bulletin insert for more information on the Christmas Fund and Emergency Fund. The offering will be dedicated on Sunday, December 17.
