ANNOUNCEMENTS AND GREETING

            The grace of our LORD Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of
            the Holy Spirit be with you all.  (2 Corinthians 13: 13)

            And also with you.

CALL TO WORSHIP * (Please Stand.)

            It is good to give thanks to you, O God,

            To declare your steadfast love in the morning;

            For you have made us glad by your work;

            At the works of your hands, we sing for joy.

HYMN 128*                                                 He Leadeth Me: O Blessed Thought

RESPONSIVE READING

            “Pay no attention to how tall and handsome he is. I have rejected him, because
            I do not judge as people judge. They look at the outward appearance, but I
            look at the heart.”– 1 Samuel 16:7

            Lord, I know your evaluation process is not the same as my own.

            “My grace is all you need, for my power is greatest when you are weak.” I am
            most happy, then, to be proud of my weaknesses, in order to feel the protection
            of Christ's power over me. I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships,
            persecutions, and difficulties for Christ's sake. For when I am weak, then I am
            strong.– 2 Corinthians 12:9-10

            Lord, I know my flaws do not frustrate you; you love me with so much
            grace that you choose to demonstrate strength in my weakness.

            But you, O Lord, are a merciful and loving God, always patient, always kind
            and faithful. – Psalm 86:15

            Lord, I know your love is steadfast. I cannot cause it to end.

            But God has shown us how much he loves us—it was while we were still sinners
            that Christ died for us!– Romans 5:8

            Lord, I know you have proven your great love for me on the cross.

            We love because God first loved us.– 1 John 4:19-20

            Lord, I know my capacity to love others is a direct result of your love for me.

Lyrics to the Hymns
for the January 10 Service

HYMN 128               He Leadeth Me: O Blessed Thought

He leadeth me: O blessed thought! O words with heavenly comfort fraught!
Whate'er I do, where'er I be, still 'tis God's hand that leadeth me.

[Refrain]
He leadeth me, he leadeth me, by his own hand he leadeth me;
his faithful follower I would be, for by his hand he leadeth me.

Sometimes mid scenes of deepest gloom, sometimes where Eden's bowers bloom,
by waters still, o'er troubled sea, still 'tis his hand that leadeth me.
[Refrain]

Lord, I would place my hand in thine, nor ever murmur nor repine;
content, whatever lot I see, since 'tis my God that leadeth me.
[Refrain]

And when my task on earth is done, when by thy grace the victory's won,
e'en death's cold wave I will not flee, since God through Jordan leadeth me.
[Refrain]

HYMN 593               Here I Am Lord

I, the Lord of sea and sky, I have heard my people cry
All who dwell in dark and sin, My hand will save
I who made the stars of night, I will make their darkness bright
Who will bear my light to them? Whom shall I send?

[Refrain]
Here I am, Lord; Is it I, Lord?
I have heard You calling in the night
I will go, Lord If You lead me
I will hold Your people in my heart

I, the Lord of snow and rain, I have borne my people's pain
I have wept for love of them, They turn away
I will break their hearts of stone, Give them hearts for love alone
I will speak my words to them, Whom shall I send?
[Refrain]

I, the Lord of wind and flame, I will tend the poor and lame
I will set a feast for them, My hand will save
Finest bread I will provide, 'Til their hearts be satisfied
I will give my life to them, Whom shall I send?
[Refrain]

HYMN 520               Nobody Knows the Trouble I See

[Refrain]
Nobody knows the trouble I see, nobody knows but Jesus;
oh, nobody knows the trouble I see, glory hallelujah!

Sometimes I'm up, sometimes I'm down, Oh, yes, Lord!
Sometimes I'm almost to the ground, Oh, yes, Lord!
[Refrain]

Although you see me going long so, Oh, yes, Lord!
I have my troubles here below, Oh, yes, Lord!
[Refrain]

What makes old Satan hate me so?  Oh, yes, Lord!
Cause he got me once and let me go, Oh, yes, Lord!
[Refrain]
