Giving Tree - Thank You All
The Christmas elves from Black River Good Neighbors came to the church and gathered the presents from under the tree.

As always they were overwhelmed by the generosity of the parishioners and their
thoughtful selection of gifts for the children. The elves will spend a week organizing
bags of gifts for all the children in each family.

On December 21, food baskets and your gifts will be delivered to the humblest homes
in our neighborhoods and in the more remote corners of the area. The deliveries will
bring joy to the children, and families will be able to share a warm and festive holiday
meal together.

Families are grateful to all the people who have been so generous. May we all share
the joy of helping others in the greater community and pray for the well being of all in
the year ahead.

The Christmas season is upon us! Some needy children in the area are again
looking forward to the thoughtful gifts they will receive from our parishioners.
This year the bell shaped cards on the tree in our Fellowship Hall will list the
gender, age, clothes and shoe sizes of a child in need.

People can choose age appropriate articles of clothing and/or toys. Baby or toddler outfits, sweaters, snow pants or some other winter articles of clothing is always needed.
Toys such as dolls, cars & trucks, games, puzzles and legos are always a hit.
Each and every gift is welcomed.

People are welcome to take a card, do a little shopping and bring the gifts, unwrapped,
in a bag with the tree card attached by Sunday December 17th or sooner if possible.

Black River Good Neighbors will collect and organize the gifts for delivery along
with their traditional Holiday Food baskets on December 21st.
Again…a local child is very thankful for the generosity and Christmas spirit of
you and the United Church.

2017 Christmas Fund for Veterans of the Cross and the Emergency Fund

In this holy and joyous time of year, our thoughts turn to the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ, the light of the world.
The theme for the 2017 Christmas Fund Offering is Shepherding the Light

For 116 years, the Christmas Fund for the Veterans of the Cross and the
Emergency Fund has been a tangible expression of God’s love and light in the world.
One of the four Special Mission Offerings of the United Church of Christ,
the Christmas Fund provides UCC congregations and members an opportunity
to reach out in kindheartedness to those who have faithfully shepherded our
Church and who now find themselves facing unexpected needs.
See the bulletin insert for more information on the Christmas Fund and Emergency Fund. The offering will be dedicated on Sunday, December 17.
