What is the meaning of Labor Day?
Labor Day originated as a way to celebrate the United States work force.

Back in the late 1800’s, just after all the changes brought about by the Industrial Revolution, we were looking at a different culture. Americans have always been work-oriented, but at this point, our work had moved from laboring in farm fields to laboring in downtown factories.

Different articles will tell you different things about exactly whose idea it was, but basically: We wanted to rejoice in the fact that we are a country of workers–and that’s the true meaning of Labor Day.

By working faithfully eight hours a day, you may eventually get to be a boss and work twelve hours a day.
~Robert Frost
My grandfather once told me that there were two kinds of people: those who do the work and those who take the credit. He told me to try to be in the first group; there was much less competition.
~ Indira Gandhi
Men are made stronger on realization that the helping hand they need is at the end of their own right arm.
~ Sidney J. Phillips
I'm a great believer in luck, and I find the harder I work, the more I have of it.
~ Thomas Jefferson
All labor that uplifts humanity has dignity and importance and should be undertaken with painstaking excellence.
~ Martin Luther King Jr.
Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life.
~ Confucius
The man who rolls up his shirt sleeves is rarely in danger of losing his shirt.
~ Anonymous
There is no substitute for hard work.
~ Thomas Edison

And “yes” you can wear white after Labor Day!
